DeJoria to move to Fuel Funny Car in 2011  

Ypsilanti, Mi (November 17, 2010) – As the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle and Lucas Oil Series season has come to a close, Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Alexis DeJoria has confirmed her plans to transition into the Fuel Funny Car category in 2011.  

“It has been a dream of mine to compete in Fuel Funny Car and with support from The Patron Spirits Company and Kalitta Motorsports I will be transitioning from my current Top Alcohol Funny Car to fuel.  I recently did some testing in Del Worsham’s family-owned equipment and had a blast” said DeJoria. “We haven’t finalized all the details, but I want to begin the year in my alcohol car and then move to fuel toward the end of the season”.

Kalitta Motorsports Vice President of Operations Jim Oberhofer is excited to help Alexis fulfill her dream.  “Having the opportunity to help Alexis transition into fuel Funny Car is something Connie and all of us at Kalitta Motorsports are really looking forward to”.  “Alexis has proven to be an excellent driver throughout her career and after speaking with Del Worsham, she has done a great job during her recent testing getting her license after her first day of driving a fuel car which is incredible” said Oberhofer. “We look forward to adding another Funny Car to the Kalitta stable and having a chance to represent the Patron Spirits Company with Alexis driving at the professional level is something we believe will be exciting for all NHRA fans”.

DeJoria adds, “I want to thank all the people at Patron for helping me achieve my dream.  My current alcohol team has come along way this year and we have a great chance to get our first win together in 2011 which is something I really want to do”.
“As the year progresses, I will make many more test runs in the fuel car and with the assistance of the experienced and respected Kalitta team, I should be ready for competition by the latter part of the season”.  “On behalf of the Patron Spirits Company and me; we are very excited to begin this new venture together with Kalitta Motorsports for 2011 and beyond”.
